Ebenezer Third Baptist Church is looking to hire part time janitorial person. Job duties include minimal handyman duties, cleaning and scheduling of repair personnel. Job is not to exceed 20 hours per week and is flexible in work schedule.

Title: Custodian / Maintenance Personnel
Experience: Minimum of 1 year – Must pass Criminal History Background Check
Hours: Flexible (weekend work may be required)

Duties:
– Ensuring spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and
dusting surfaces
– Sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpets
– Waxing floors as deemed necessary
– Washing and sanitizing toilets, sinks and showers and restocking disposables
– Wiping mirrors and windows
– Maintaining outer premises by cleaning entrances
– Performing maintenance and minor repairs (replacing broken switches, fixing door
handles, minor leaks etc.)
– Reporting major damages and oversee repairs
– Securing facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows and setting up
the alarm
– Undertaking custodial and janitorial tasks (lifting and moving chairs, tables, etc.
– Ensuring vendors have completed tasks as requested and approve payments to be released
– Changing air filters and cleaning vents
– Ordering new cleaning supplies as needed
– Collecting and taking out trash and recycling
– Maintaining a thorough inventory or equipment and supplies
– Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and furniture
– Ensuring brass rails and wood on pews are regularly polished
Requirements and Skills:
– Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role
– Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
– Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
– Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices
– Attention to detail and conscientiousness
– Very good physical condition and strength
– High school diploma is preferred but not required
– Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to work with minimal supervision
